2^nd March 1997: Wholesale drainage appear on the Massey University Student's Association "MUSAK" CD compilation being distributed to first year students. The CD features 16 Bands from around Palmerston North each contributing one track each. Limited numbers will be available at local retailers and from The Celibate Monk . Wholesale have contributed a live version of 'Malice' recorded at our 'live to air' on Radio Massey in August 1997.

2^nd March 1997: Wholesale drainage have recorded "Repression" for the limited run "Mutant" compilation CD that is distributed around New Zealand's Student radio network the "B-Net". This will be in the stations within a month or so.

12th December 1997: 'Celibate Monks' Are proud to present the "Intemperance" Compilation CD. Bands featured on 'Intemperance' are: Wholesale Drainage, Master Cheese Maker , Fader , Burnt Weeping Eyes, Gravey, Cancer Maidens , Sid Vishnu, E-Haw , Motorsheep, Zero Tolerance, Monster Works. The style of music on the CD range from Industrial, Hard-core, Goth, Punk, Experimental, to Pop. All featured bands are from Palmerston North, New Zealand. The price is $6 (N.Z.) per unit. 13th November 1997: Dave Drainage has finished his 'Celibate Monks' Web page and is now on-line. See related stuff at the bottom of this page for information on the 'Celibate Monks' recording collective, and the compilation albums he's putting together.

30^th August 1997: To play the samples that are on the download page you MUST have a MP3 player . The best one that I have found is totally FREE and is incredibly easy to use and install, it's called 'Winamp' and you can download this cool player HERE! http://winamp.lh.net/ (it even has a graphic equaliser!). So download it and install and have fun. For those who don't know MP3 is a form of encoding digital music at CD quality in stereo at 11 times smaller than if it was recorded in standard windows .wav format. So it takes less time to download a high quality sample that is only 600K than its .wav (windows standard format) equivalent of around 8-9Megs!

Dave drainage runs the Celibate Monks recording artist's collective. This is not a record label as such, but merely an organisation to help promote local music in a cheap, non-profit, way. Celibate monks has released its first C.D. called "Excommunicated", it is a compilation album featuring eleven local bands (including Wholesale drainage). "Excommunicated" has received a number of very good reviews and is available for NZ $6.00 a unit. Dave is now starting the follow up C.D. compilation "Intemperance", it will follow a similar format to "Excommunicated" and will be offered at the same price.
